Lumicon 1.25 Inch Minus Violet Filter is used primarily to “bracket” the color-corrected band of refracting telescopes. This filter can also be used as a “visible” filter in RGBV (red-green-blue-visible) astrophotography with reflecting telescopes.
Most digital/CCD cameras have built-in infrared filters, however a minus violet filter may be used in addition depending on how far into the blue your primary lens is color-corrected. This filter blocks wavelengths shorter than about 420nm, reducing halos around objects for photography. Recommended for use with a telephoto lens to remove chromatic aberration.
Threads into the nosepiece of industry standard 1.25″ digital imagers.

Lumicon 2 Inch SCT Rear Cell UHC Filter is unbeatable for revealing nebulosity. This is achieved by passing three nebula emission lines – the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) and the H-beta line (486nm) – while blocking light-pollution and Sky Glow. The result is superb views of the Orion, Lagoon, Swan and other extended nebulae.
The Ultra High Contrast Filter threads onto a Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope rear-cell, and presents male SCT threads for accessory attachment. The filter cell allows ease of eyepiece changes without threading/unthreading the filter, and is also easier to change-out than the standard 2″ filter cell with gloves on, for cold-weather observing.
Lumicon filters remain the world’s best and strictest quality control standards are employed throughout the production process. Each Ultra High Contrast Filter is individually inspected and scanned with the percentage of light transmittance of the OIII and H-beta emission lines.
