Different telescopes can have very different back focus distances. In most telescopes the focal plane is deliberately moved further out, allowing users to attach cameras and other accessories more easily.
Refractors always have a rather long back focus since they are usually used with a star diagonal or erecting prism.

The Problem:
As a result of this you often cannot directly focus the telescope if you do not use it with the above mentioned accessories. You would have to move the focuser further out, but you reach the end of the focus travel before reaching a focused image.

The Solution:
TS Optics extension tubes bridge the gap between the focuser and the focal plane. They are the ideal solution whenever the focus lies further outside than you can reach with the focuser.

The eyepiece is clamped firmly but without scratches through a brass compression ring. The advantage is that eyepieces are held more securely and the risk of the eyepiece being tilted out of the optical axis is minimized.
The extension tubes are machined from solid aluminium. They are black anodized. The 2" barrel has a safety undercut to prevent the extension tube from dropping out of the focuser accidentally.

Omegon 2in SC adapter - The 2in adapter for your Schmidt Cassegrain telescope

The Omegon SC adapter allows you to use 2in€ť accessories - such as eyepieces, star diagonals, Barlow lenses, or various adapters - with any Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. The 2in size is a standard format to which you can attach virtually any astronomical accessory.

 

Screw it on and you are ready to go

The adapter is simply screwed onto the SC thread on the telescope, and can also remain attached there if required. A locking screw and compression ring ensure the gentle but secure attachment of your valuable accessories, protecting them from damage.

 

With the Omegon 2in SC adapter, you receive a high-quality and very robust piece of engineering, which is black anodized to minimise unwanted reflections.

  • with a recessed grub-screw for permanent attachment to the brass clamping ring
  • with three pressure screws, spaced at 120 degree, which can be set for inserting and removing eyepieces against light resistance, thus avoiding having to use a clamping screw.

Our expert comment:

This inexpensive reducer has a wide range of applications. It is a minimal addition and will not cause any focusing problems. The telescope-side front end includes a 48mm filter threadfor taking a 2" nebula filter and a T2 thread. This even allows the entire assembly to be screwed onto any T2 thread.
